Call for Applications for the 2010-2011 Fondation Desjardins - University Scholarships

MONTREAL, Dec. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - Fondation Desjardins is launching its call for applications for several scholarship programs, including the 2010 Girardin-Vaillancourt university scholarships. About 200 scholarships, for a total of $535,750, will be granted to students.

Scholarship candidates at the Bachelor's level ($1,250), Master's level ($7,500) and Doctorate level ($10,000) have until March 1, 2010 to send their application to Fondation Desjardins.

The Fondation will also be accepting applications from doctoral students for three research grants until April 1, 2010. A $25,000 grant and a $15,000 grant will be awarded for work relating to the theme "Environment and Society". A third grant of $10,000 will be allocated for studies in the field of cooperation.

Applications will also be accepted for the Dorimène Bursaries ($2,500) for women going back to school full- or part-time, as well as for the Special bursaries in the fields of finance ($7,500), actuarial sciences ($5,000), mental health ($10,000) and gerontology ($7,500), funded by Desjardins Financial Security.

These awards are open to full-time students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents living in Québec. The research grants, Dorimène Bursaries and Special bursaries are also open to students who are members of caisses in Ontario.
