Admission Requirements 2011/2012

The course recognises the central role played by literacy in our society. The written language is a key factor in social organisation and cultural development, and the medium of a wide range of communication technologies. It is often claimed that the central role of reading and texts is one of the most important characteristics of modern societies.

A good understanding of the various aspects of literacy, both contemporary and historical, is therefore essential for a full understanding of how this society works, and forms a key asset for efficient participation therein.

In order to be admitted to MA in Literacy Studies you should graduate from a Bachelor's degree/Teacher's degree which includes at least 80 study points/ECTS of English Language and Literature, or another background that is deemed suitable.

Please note that applicants who have completed or are in the process of completing a MA degree will not be considered for a scholarship. The faculty's policy is to not offer financial support to or to prioritize admission to students under this category.

English Language Requirements
Proficiency in English is required from all students in Norway. Students who are not native speakers of English, have to document their knowledge of English. Please find detailed information regarding required test and minimum scores here
