SCHOLARSHIPS FOR AMERICAN CITIZENS

For current American university postgraduate students to undertake research towards their American PhD and/or undertake a year of research in cooperation with an Australian university or educational institution; or to support enrolment in an Australian postgraduate program. This scholarship supports an 8-12 month program. For further information contact your Fulbright Advisor at your U.S. university or go to IIE.
The distinguished Fulbright U.S. Alumni Scholarship is annually granted to the top ranked postgraduate applicant to Australia and is supported by the generous donations of U.S. Alumni.
The Fulbright CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarship was established in 2008, with the first scholarship awarded in 2009. The Fulbright CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarship provides the opportunity for American citizens to undertake 8-12 months postgraduate research with Australia’s leading and largest science research organisation, CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation).
A new Fulbright Scholarship opportunity in Australia has been established for American graduates in the field of business or economics. The Fulbright ANU College of Business and Economics Postgraduate Scholarship provides the opportunity for American citizens to undertake 8-12 months postgraduate research with ANU College of Business and Economics. The first Scholarship will be awarded in 2010.

Fulbright Senior Scholarships


For academics (generally Associate Professor and/or Professor) to undertake research and/or teaching at an Australian institution. This scholarship supports a 4-6 month program. For further information and application forms go to CIES.

Fulbright Flinders University Distinguished Chair in American Political Science, 2011-2015

The Australian Distinguished Chair in American Political Science was established in 2005, and is hosted in 2011-2015 by Flinders University. This scholarship is for a leading U.S. Professor to conduct collaborative research at Flinders University along with guest lectures at advanced undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This scholarship supports a 4-5 month position.
The Fulbright Distinguished Chair in American Political Science for 2005-2010 is hosted by the Australian National University.

U.S. Senior Specialist


This program supports Australian universities to host U.S. senior specialists and/or academics as guest speakers, lecturers and/or collaborative researchers. The aim of this program is to develop curriculum, build research links and establish ongoing cooperations. The scholarship supports a 2-6 week visit and funds an international economy airfare and a US$200 per day honorarium. U.S. senior specialists and/or academics must register with CIES.

Anne Wexler Australian-American Studies Scholarships in Public Policy

The Anne Wexler Australian-American Studies Scholarships in Public Policy will enable U.S. postgraduate students with strong academic credentials and leadership potential to undertake a Master’s degree in Australia in an area that supports Mrs Wexler’s binational interests in the field of public policy.
