Scholarship Programs and Eligibility Requirements

Richard M. Arnold Scholarship
Up to three (3) one-time $1,000 scholarships are available. To be eligible, students must have completed at least one full year towards a Radiologic Technology degree at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College or Southwestern Community College.   Read more...

Alan Bruckner Young Life Scholarship
One (1) one-time $500 scholarship will be available to a graduating senior of A.C. Reynolds High School. Participation in the Reynolds chapter of Young Life is not required, but preference will be given to students active in the organization. Read more...
J.Jerry Cabe Dental Scholarship

John Francis Amherst Cecil Scholarship
Up to seven (7) one-time scholarships will be offered this year, up to a maximum of $1,500 each.   Dependents of current year-round full-time employees, year-round part-time employees or seasonal full-time employees of Biltmore, with one year of completed service, are eligible to apply. Four Year College/University Scholarship (Harry W. Clarke Award)
One $2,000 scholarship, renewable for three years (for a possible total scholarship of $8,000), may be awarded to graduating seniors from any public high school or certified home school in the 29-county Western North Carolina region to attend a North Carolina four-year college or university. One scholarship of $1,000, renewable for one additional year (for a possible total scholarship of $2,000), may be awarded to a graduating senior from any public school or certified home school in the 29-county Western North Carolina region to attend a North Carolina two-year community college. Emily Davidson Memorial Music Scholarship
One (1) one-time $500 scholarship is available to a graduating senior of Murphy High School who has demonstrated musical talent throughout high school and plans to continue the study of music at the college level. Read more...

Captain John G. Gardner, USMC, Viet Nam Veterans Memorial Scholarship
This program is open to residents of the 18 westernmost counties who are graduating seniors of a WNC public or private high school or certified home school, and who are relatives of active duty, decorated Viet Nam Veterans. Read more...

Wellington Hamrick Scholarship
One (1) one-time $1,000 scholarship will be offered, with preference given to students with financial need. The award provides educational assistance to female students who plan to study math, science, engineering or another technical field or trade, and is offered to Cleveland County female graduating seniors. Several one-time scholarships of varying dollar amounts will be available to qualified graduates or graduating high school seniors, including those in a certified home school, who are members of the Cashiers or Highlands communities, and will be attending a North Carolina State College or University, or a North Carolina Technical School. Highlands Falls Country Club Employee Scholarship
Several one-time scholarships of varying amounts are available. To be eligible to compete, you must be a current permanent or seasonal employee of Highlands Falls Country Club or Highlands Falls Community Association, or a contract employee working full-time, and in at least your 2nd season of employment. One (1) one-time $1,000 scholarship is available to graduating seniors of odd-numbered classes at East Rutherford High School (award year 2011, 2013, 2015, etc.), or even-numbered classes at Eastern Randolph High School (award year 2012, 2014, 2016, etc.) - with a preference for students who will attend UNC-Chapel Hill. Two (2) $3,000 scholarships, renewable for three years (for a possible total scholarship of $12,000), are available to graduating public high school seniors from Graham, Jackson, Macon and Swain counties and the Qualla Boundary. WNC Regional Scholarships
(Nelle Crowell Fletcher & G.L. Crowell Fund; William Forster, Jr. & Nancy Forster Stevens Scholarship Fund; Lucius Lanier Memorial Scholarship Fund; Clyde & Mildred Wright Endowment Fund)
This program is open to residents of the 18 westernmost counties who are graduating seniors of a WNC public high school or certified home school. One (1) one-time $1,000 scholarship will be offered to a graduating senior from each qualifying school. These $1,000 recipients will create a pool from which finalists will be selected to interview for several renewable scholarships, each worth up to $2,500 per year for four years, for a possible total value of $10,000 per recipient.
